One of my biggest pet peeves is lying, it's the one thing my kids know will definitely, without a doubt, get them punished for. As far as rules, go I'm a pretty lenient Mom. I've got rules about where my kids go, when and who they go with - and I've got rules about lying.
Don't lie to me.
I don't care if you think you're sugar coating something that will make me feel bad or get angry - believe me I'll survive and get over it.
Just don't lie.
My husband and I try to teach our kids that honesty and your beliefs are what build your character, make you a decent human being, give you a good name as you go through life. (Yes, people will tell you I am honest to a fault - I won't lie to you if your new haircut sucks or if your make-up reminds me of bozo-the-clown  )
But - the sad fact is everyone does it. So how do I tell my kids I'm going out today to vote for a man I hope might lie to us the least? How do I tell my kids that our politicians will tell us anything we want to hear to get elected and then just listen to special interests with the money and power - not the average middle class joes like us?
It's getting harder and harder to teach my kids the value of honesty, when all they see is corruption, power and lies - and people coming to power and making a boat load of money by lying to the rest of us.
So whatever side of the fence you find yourself on today - please go out and vote for the man you believe will lie to us the least - the one you think may help our economy, keep our kids and our country safe against terrorism and who represents the best of what our country came be.

Thanks for stopping by the blogging home of romance author Debora Dennis! I'm a wife, mother of three great kids (one on the autism spectrum) and a writer. This is the place I hang my hat to let my hair down and ramble on about my life.
Grab a chair and drink and get ready to Dish with Debora, saucy style. All comments, rants and raves contained in this blog are strictly my unvarnished opinions or delusions that are alive and well in the vast recesses of my own wild imagination.
I love comments, but lurkers are welcome too! Just know I'm glad you found me and hope you come back again soon!
Thanks for visiting my blog for Jennifer’s post yesterday…
