Yes, it's time once again for another round of "Would you believe?" Wednesday!
Sharpen those pencils.
Would you believe I missed a holiday yesterday? I was informed by my engineer hubby that yesterday was in fact "square-root day" - I admit over dinner last night when the announcement was made and my two boys nodded their heads in agreement (I live with math geeks in case you didn't know) - I stared into space in utter amazement. Square-root day? Really? Well, after the laughter died down, it was explained to me that yesterday's date was 3-3-09 - which everyone knows in math terms is a square-root equation. 3x3=9. Duh.
Would you believe I probably couldn't pass 4th grade math? I don't know about you, but we didn't do algebra in elementary school. All I can say is thank God for my older boys and their superior math aptitude - because when my daughter has a question, I'm the last person she needs to take math advice from. Hell, I can't even figure out the word problems and they want her to pick out congruent lines or angles?

Would you believe one of the biggest arguments hubby and I ever had in our whole married life (22 years and counting!) was because he opened a utility bill and noticed we had a 31 cent credit? When he asked me about it, I replied "I don't like cents in my checkbook - so I round all the bills up." Can you imagine the face of a man who prides himself on his higher math skills - who actually makes a living off those math skills?
Yes, believe it or not, I'm still married! I'm here to confirm that opposites do attract folks!

Your turn - what wouldn't I believe?

What wouldn’t you believe? Crap, anyone who knows me knows this so it’s nothing earth shattering. I can’t do math in my head and I do, in fact still use my fingers to count! stephanie(Quote)
Yeah, I also have problems with math. When my son starts school it will definitely be my husband helping him with the math homework. Kate Karyus Quinn(Quote)
Would you believe I think “Square Root Day” is ridiculously dumb?
I am actually quite perturbed about it.
ps- I spell it pterbbed. I like it better that way.

I am the worlds biggest math dork…so I’m with you. I was laughing about the bills though. I do write the checks out for the right amount….but when I put them in my checkbook I round to the nearest dollar. I have been doing it for years. When my hubby found out he asked how I ever balance my check book…and I said “WHAT?” Needless to say I’m off by a looooong way. Funny how pennies add up over a 10 year span. I now have an extra few hundred dollars in my checking I didn’t know about. I told him to consider that savings in my checking heheh nikki(Quote)
