Yes, I know I'm a week behind. Last week was spent entirely on edits for my November 2010 release, A Fistful of Fate.
This week as part of my "R" project, I'll be focusing on Re-inspiring the people around me. If you scan down the sidebar you're bound to figure out I'm not just a solitary writer. In the romance writing world - I'm a giver and organizer.
(no comments about my lack or organization on that last statement, okay?
)
I am President-Elect of my local RWA chapter Dunes & Dreams Romance Writers and I co-founded and run a kick-ass romance writing critique group, The Passionate Critters! and I take my responsibilities to these ladies very seriously.
Part of my job is to inspire them to greater heights, to reach for the brass ring of publishing and to be there for support when the rejections roll in or to toast success when something is accepted for publication.
But if you've ever been involved with a group of women - passionate, creative women - you'll understand leading and inspiring isn't always as easy as it might sound.
Every day I look to my groups to inspire me to be the best writer I can be. So this week, I am making sure I put out all the encouragement I get back. I'm leading with my heart! Because even a brutal crit of someone's hard work can be tempered with a kind word, a notice of something that writer wrote that she did well.
The same goes for most things in life. While sometimes we have to point out a negative (Okay, I admit I do point out the negatives more often than I point out the positives) can that same criticism be done in a different way? The old adage, you get more flies with honey than vinegar has stood the test of time for a reason - it's true.
So the mission for this week, is to think with your heart when trying to lead by example. Use the golden rule and think about how you'd like to be treated, addressed or pointed in the right direction.
Your turn!
What's you "R" mission for this week?

Oh, Deb you’re so wise and we love you.
I plan to reenergize, reshape and rejuvenate people around me and my goals. And you are an inspiration! Clarissa(Quote)
